As you can see by the post our 1st child is on the way. I remember a while back (year or 2) everyone was talking about a particular brand of car seat. Trouble is I don't remember what the popular vote was. My wife and I have seen several brands that all look pretty good but were wondering if any particular one fits the Disco better and is safer than others. Thanks in advance.

I use only Britax for the twins now that they're forward-facing. The twins are about 22 pounds, and these seats are the most comfortable I've seen. They feel more substantial than any of the comparable seats from the competition.

Now, that said, when your kids are newborn through big infant, you should get one of the On My Way (Journey) systems from Evenflo. This is the one here:

http://www.evenflo.com/pr/ts/prts_journeytsp.phtml

It comes with stroller, base, and the seat itself. Hands down, this is the thing to have. You will be able to get the baby out of the car without waking her - worth about a thousand dollars in my mind. The seat is also made to clip onto shopping carts. If you're lucky enough to have twins, there is a two seat / stroller version too.

The system is certainly not that much, but it is a little spendy. Have Grandma(s) kick down for this one or do a group buy.

Congratulations and good luck!

Britax is releasing their Knap-SI model shortly for 4-22 pounders. Has side impact protection for infants. (My sister-in-law is having a baby :-))

I have two kids, we have used many brands, and by far the best is Britax period, a little more expensive but well worth it for the extra safety and features, like straps not getting twisted, locking seat belt clamps, etc. I tried to be cheap and used some other brands before I got the Britax, was a waste of money, get the Britax and you will not be disappointed.

Congrats Tony! Britax was the most adjustable for all of our cars. Also the child comfort and safety seemed to be the best.

Congrats Tony!

No matter what seat you get, go pick up a device called the "Mighty Tite". It attaches to the seat belt and allows you to reall compress the tension so the seat will not move side to side. I have one in both vehicles. Extremely easy to install and very effective.

Thanks guys for the help and advice. We just looked at the Britax and they are a little pricy but they look very safe and comfortable....SOLD.
