Alright guys, Any of you install a modern CD/MP3 radio in a RRC? The space is too f'in tight for my Alpine wires. I'd love to hear how someone else has solved this problem. Also, anyone got subs installed? If so, whatcha got and do you like it? -P |

Just put a Pioneer unit in 2 weeks ago. I wanted to keep the connectors from the old unit, rather than hard-wiring directly, and spent about an hour regretting that choice, but finally got the thing to fit. There's a little bit more room on the right side bottom than the left, which may help. I ended up pushing the connectors up under the heater, which allowed enough room for the CD/radio to push in. The radio space is a standard DIN socket on the sides, so any standard size unit should go in part way. I'd look for a unit with a short cable for the antenna (mine plugs in direct, with only minor scarring on the back of my hand) and not re-use the radio connector, but wire direct. One other note: the manual for the Pioneer unit says it may not function correctly at more than a 60 degree angle. I haven't had any problems with skipping, but maybe I'm just lucky. |

I already have my Alpine installed. It just didn't go in all the way. I was looking for ideas on how to get that group of wires sorted out. I think I'll cut the speaker wires out of the way after I get my amp this week. that should open up more room. My alpine said it wouldn't work at more than a 45 degree angle. I had planned on buying a CD changer anyway so it wasn't too big a deal, but the thing works like a charm! Thanks, -P

I know some people have chipped away a bit of the insulation to make room. Unfortunately, this allows even more heat into that area! |

I had to chip some insulation out of there to fit a Kenwood in, but it does fit. I have a rockford amp in the back and a 12" kicker, not real expensive, but it is a real nice difference for me Hmmmmm, heat coming in from there? LOL where else? -seanA |
