Yes we get a deal on the F250, no deal on the GMC.

And the F250 has a better tranny (6 speed ZF)

Is it wrong to tow ALL your rovers places?

I am not at all ashamed of my GMC, kinda hard to haul 12foot lumber in the disco.

As far as the F250 goes, if you must buy a Ford, at least consider getting the 1 ton. F350's are way better IMHO.

Good Luck Ron.

yeah i was at Pep Boys yesterday and was tempted to pic up some kick ass fake etched glass stickers.......Rubn's Racn' and some nice naked lady profiles like those on truck mud flaps. they would fit with my white letter look nicely.
but you need a nice bug shield with a really creative name on it for your dually. and lots of lights above the windshield, your names printed about the door handles and maybe.....just maybe a cool "How's your Peter Built?" sticker on the back.

Been driving Ford trucks for years so when I bent my last one I shopped around until I found a F350 Crew 4x4 LB V10 that I liked. The day before I was supposed to pick it up my wife talked me into going down to the "Chevy" dealer. Well I agreed to look at a GMC as a comparison.

I ended up driving home with a ’02 GMC Sierra 2500HD Crew 4x4 LB with Vortec 8100 (rat motor) and Allison trans. I still like Ford trucks but have put at least one trans in everyone I’ve owned. The GMC is stronger, definitely more comfortable inside and hopefully more reliable than my Fords. I bought this truck specifically to tow my RR.

Best line I’ve heard about this truck was from John Lee: “damn this is a white boys truck isn’t it”

Ron A

BTW, I only paid $1000 more than I would have for the Ford.

Here it is, plain and simple:

If you need a truck to do work, get a Ford.

If you want a pretty truck that isn't really expected to do anything, get a GMC

Besides, what kind of real truck has a steerable rear axle that's expected to carry weight also? Another GM gimmick.

i don't know the kind of deal you're getting on the ford(guessing the wife's discount is awesome) but my friend got a Dodge 2500 SLT 4x4 quad cab, Cummins, tow package, uprated springs, Auto, almost all options except for leather, for under 32K with taxes, titles, and fees. He really couldn't afford a CTD but as a joke he posted the price he could afford on autobytel and a local autobytel dealer said they could special order him one. He waited 2 months and had the truck he wanted. It was his first internet car buying experience and it went very smoothly. I have pics of the truck if you're interested. I also like the axles on the dodge better, I think the dodge has dana 60Front/80 rear whereas the ford has a 50front (maybe going to 60)/ and sterling rear?

I aint even gonna bother asking you my standard question (Did you bump you head?) cause I know you took some knocks in the accident. Ho ?? Get that man some medical attention !!! Dodge does not make a crew cab and well I would like a suburban as this is what I am used to (my family has had them since 1972) but a crew cab 2wd XLT F250 SB V10 6 speed is only going to be like 25k plus tax, 0% interest where as a sub is way more.

Ron

PS the ford auto trans is crap
PPS I would get the F350 if I got a 4x4 but in 2wd it just makes the rear really high.

PPPS F350 is D60/D80 with DRW with SRW you get D60/Sterling rear F250 4wd you only get D50 front

Go GMC. My old 88 1500 Sierra is three times the truck my disco AND my series put together. It accelerates better, gets better gas mileage, and I is in the shop 1/10 of the time my disco is. In general, anything BUT a rover is a great truck. The only thing that my rovers can do that my GMC can't, is go play in the mud ;). Since it is 2WD, it is a street truck. It hauls, it tows, it goes anywhere on the pavement. But the second I want to go off the beaten path, I switch trucks. Go ahead, do it.

Max T.

P.S. I want all of you to know that right now all of my British cars don't work, and my GM motor vehicles are standing strong. This opinion is extremely biased just because I am pissed off that none of my Rovers work, and the Uhwarrie Safari is in 3 days!!!

Rant Mode off

LOL

yup that was my thought. A truck that will actually run a majority of the time. WHAT A CONCEPT!

My father's truck is a 1998 1500 sub with 120k on it. The ONLY problem with it in 120k, a leaking diff seal. On a rover you are lucky if the only problem with the diff is a leaking seal!

1991 Ford F-150 XLT Lariat 4x4
351, 4-speed automatic
211,427 original miles
Burns 1/4-qt. of oil every 2000 miles or so. Other than that, no leaks, no squeaks, and ready to go another 200,000 miles :)

We had a 1996 Yukon with the 5700 Vortec in it, and it proved to be very reliable. I think we had 92000 miles when we sold it with almost no problems (mechanically). Great trucks for hauling and towing stuff. Never owned a Ford, but my next door neighbor, who owns a ranch, says that the Ford Super Duty w/ a Powerstroke engine is the best in the market for towing/hauling/ranch work.

HAAA, Yea Kyle everytime I see a F350 Crew I get a little misty (LOL). But I'm getting old and my butt just can't take that buckboard ride in the Ford's anymore.

You're really gonna think I slipped a gear when I tell you about the super slinky suspension and 7" of lift on the RR. (Haaaaa Haaaaa)

Package cars used to be on Ford chassis, powered by Ford's 2-bbl. 300 6-cyl. Then for a while they were on GM chassis. Don't know who the chassis maker is now... I tend to guess Freightliner, because of the TRW steering and Cummins 5.9 Diesels they use. But I agree, too fancy for a Grumman-Olson body :)

In my area, at least.

just checked the owners card in the UPS truck that just came buy. it was a 1988 GMC. didn't feel like popin' the hood though. he was on his 3rd engine in 300K. they just turned a truck in that had just over 1 million on it. they are pretty much all aluminum and fiberglass.
he said they cost about 50-60K each.

HHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I hooked up the Harman/kardon speakers to my computer and played ‘slinky’ so everyone could hear.

I drive a GM truck and a slinky LR, maybe I have gone over to the dark side.

If in the future you see pictures of me being towed by the milk truck or that skinny little yellow bird truck with it’s skinny little bird legs, I’ll start listening about the no-flexy set up.

LOL LOL LOL…
