Just changed the oil in my 1994 D1, After running a few miles a leak developed, The leak is occurring in the left threaded hole located on the bottom of the Differential near the driveshaft. What are these holes for? Why did the leak just develop? and What do I need to do to get it to stop?

I don't know what those holes are for, but they appear to be blind holes. Maybe tooling holes? Are you sure it's not your pinion seal leaking and dripping down to that point ? How's your fluid level in your diff ?

Troy - most likely a pinion seal leak that is traveling down the diff and appears to be coming from the blind tapped mounting holes.

Pinion seal leak could be:

1) blocked breather tube
2) a worn pinion seal

Try clearing the breather and banjo fitting first.

I am sure it is not leaking down from the flange, it is the hole. The breather is clear. The level is ok, However, Before the leak I slightly overfilled it, but drained to appropriate level after leak.

Thanks for the help

I'm stumped. I didn't think anything could leak from those holes. I've never seen a bare diff housing, so I don't know what it would look like on the inside. Maybe someone else on the board has had one stripped all the way down. All I can say is, watch your diff fluid level. If it continues to leak, and your diff fluid remains the same, I'm calling the Vatican.

Those mounting holes are blind tapped - they don't go through the housing - but I guess any machining error is possible. Put some sealant on a bolt and thread it in there - see if it still leaks after that.

Thanks, Bill I will try that, Just wanted to make sure it was not for a breather/overflow or something weird like that.

Thanks
