Another Colorado video (#2). This video captures one of those typical web forum initiated wheeling trips I seem to have become addicted too. This time out, the mystery web trail guide managed to muster up 3 Rovers, 2 H2s and a S10 pickup. This is maybe the first video that folks on dWeb and H2source might both find interesting since we had cross forum members, Adam, Brian and myself (unless there were others). My better half did all the video work and I did the editing. I put it together mainly for myself but figured the people there, and others may want me to shear it. Sorry about the size, quality and format, its a 120 Meg downloadable home video and only plays on Windows platforms, but I think its cool. Mostly I am sorry about the size, it will take 20 mins to download if you have a fast connection. Right click this link then click save as http://www.alecwallis.com/videos/wheelingwebbig.wmv

Great video, thanks for sharing. Good editing job and music selection. Makes me wish I was out west. Jamil |

yeah...nice music selection. Didn't someone else recently use that same U2 track in their video??? I thought Brian was going to roll for sure, nice to finally see his legendary rig. I'd like to see Musky's Scout in action one of these days too! Great video...shows that Hummers and Rovers have something in common....I'm not entirely sure what that exactly is....perhaps offroading???? |

Someone else used that U2 track? Huh! Actually the more time I spend with Rovers the more I like them and want one. This maybe a shocker for you Steve, but I am very seriously thinking of dumping my H2. I may keep it for camping and stuff but its a pain in the ass to wheel with on the Colorado type trails. Driving 3 tons of rig up those narrow rocks is work with little room for error, and its just a matter of time before I cave in a door or something. I do like the challenge and all, but my gut is telling me their just too big. We were taking about this last night, and I think I may end up being a Defender owner one of these days in the not so distant future.

Not sure about the pre-dented disco there Brian, I prefer to make my own dents. You can have all the instant replays you want when you do shit like that. Assuming you want it posted all over the internet. I really should ask people first before I do this stuff. |

Thanks, Alec, for some really great footage. Impressive driving, too. At least to a newbie like me. Enjoyed your work, and it downloads fast with a cable modem. Ray |

Well done. Nice wheel stand Brian. But what is up with your rear link and the H2/tow truck combo in the ending slide show? Looks like a good trail. Anyone run it open diff? Brian |

Brian, the other Brians trailing arm bent. It happened at the obstacle after the wheel stand, Im not an expert but. We tried to straighten it by running it over with my H2, eventually a solution using a winch, snatch block and a rear recovery point did the trick (oh and some bailing wire Brian happened to have). The ball joint on other H2s steering tie rod popped out of its socket. We took it off and hammered it back into place. It held out for during the way back down the trail, but the owner figured it would be best to tow it home (he had his wife and kids with him). I believe thats a week point on the H2 so a spear and a few more tools (Brian had the right tools) will now become part of my recovery kit. It amazing what can be fixed on a trail with a big wrench and club hammer, oh and Brians bailing wire.

Thanks for all the kudos btw. I guess a high parentage of the H2 owners that wheel and drop by are video techno geeks. I am used to being called a computer geek, but video techno geek, now that sounds cool. |
