I replaced my rear brake pads today, and noticed the rear rotors are a bit worn, not too much but enough that I will consider it in about a year or so. I just replaced the gear oil in the 3rd member, and from what I could see, I must empty that oil again (or have it leak all over me when I pull the driveshaft out to get to the rotor?)in order to change the rotors, is this correct? |

Brian, You'll only lose a little bit of gear oil when you pull the axles - usually not enough to worry about. Bill |

Brian, you can always lift the end of the axle you're working on, just enough for the oil not to leak out. |

I'm in the process of ordering parts for rear breaks: rotors and pads. Can I mix cross drilled rotors on the rear with OEM rotors on the front. Just inquiring to night about Raybestos pads and rotors for a 97 D1. rear pads $76 cdn. The Raybestos store (garage) is to call me back with a price on the there OEM replacement rotors. OEM rear pads are $29.70 cdn set of $4. OEM rear rotors are $61.20 cdn each. Has any one installed Brutestop rotors? Or recommend a cross drilled rotor that is available in B.C. |

Brian, I'm not sure about the D1, but on my D2 I recently replaced rear pads and rotors and it was a very simple matter that didn't involve any axle fluid. They simply slip off the axle and studs, and new ones slid on. |
