Everybody seems to give different answers for my new BFG A/T 245/75-16s - ranging from 2.0 (as on stock tires) and all the way up to 3.5...("the vehicle is so heavy").

Here is a Bar to Conversion chart, on the pressure I dont know. I called Yokohama and asked them what they recommend for my 235/85/16's

Frode

For highway driving it is best to use the pressure ratings which are posted on the drivers door. Doesn't matter which tire is on the truck.
Mine says 41 pounds in the rear and 28 pounds in the front.

The tyres seem to be bulging heavily using OE pressure-settings, which is why I thought I maybe should run higher pressure (as adviced at tire-shop). But I guess you're right, Randall, so I think I'll stick to that - if no one objects to this proposition.
Must try the chalk trick now that I have somewhere to start. Maybe it's the 6inch Rostyle classic RR steel rims that give them this bulging shape. Thanx!

Frode

245 is the perfect width for a 7" wide wheel. So they would bulge out on the 6" Rostyle. You can increase the pressure some what above spec, so long as there is about 10 more pounds in the rear than the front.

Just checked BFG site. The tyre needs a 6,5"-7,5" rim, so the Rostyle isn't a good fit on these tyres. I had one inner tube splitting, so I've decided I'd better shotblast and paint a set of my Discovery steel wheels to mount the new tyres on, removing the inner tube alltogether, running tubeless. (this is the problem purchasing 2.hand someone elses tuff - you never know how it is or if somethings wrong. The tyreshop obviously had used the wrong tube!)
