I'm in need of the correct size for the 99D2 exhaust manifold bolts (manifold to engine). My friend needs to know and I'm unsure as I own a 99D1. Also, his bolt keeps coming loose. He's tried lock-tite with no results. Any ideas? I don't think it's stripped.
Thanks

I don't know the size, but how hard can it be to put some sockets on that bolt to figure out the correct size?

Loctite definitely wouldn't work here. Loctite breaks down with heat. Putting loctite on an exhaust bolt is sort of like drilling a hole into a boat to let the water out.

He's stuck w/o tools but is next to a home depot (out of town). He wanted to just pop in make a quick purchase. I know, wait until you're home and fix but it's just him. He wants to do it now.

BTW, I'm not sure if I spoke to you John or Ho the other day about my damper but all of the hardware WAS there and installed correctly. It's scary to think that the LR techs couldn't tell. The shimmy was fixed by a balance at a DIFFERENT tire place. Thanks for your help.

If the Home Depot guys are willing, he can ask to borrow some sockets to see which one fits. I don't know if they're willing to do this though. It's asking a lot. He might try eyeballing the bolt, then buying several sockets that look about right, and then returning the ones that don't fit.

The size is most likely 9/16.

Dunno about the D2, but the D1 has a metal locking tab that restricts these bolts from working loose.

Perhaps he's missing these locking plates?
