I just bought a 95 Discovery and it came with a few problems. First off, the exhaust tip on the muffler broke off, does that mean I need a new muffler or can a muffler shop just weld a new tip on? Also, the A/C switch doesn't work, its not getting power, could I just take a hot off the stereo harness and use that? Also, how can I fix the tracks on the front sunroof, the motor works but it just gets jammed? Thanks, Matt |

exhaust tip is an easy repair.. but I'd remove the rear muffler & replace with a pipe (you will not notice any noise difference) any muffler shop can do this for around $60 or so.. As for the a/s switch.. this is kind of common, but I would trace why the lead to the switch isn't working.. (blown fuse or something..) If you get power to the switch, does the a/c work fine?? The sunroof tracks are also a pain.. you'll need to take apart and lube & replace any worn parts ( a real headache b/c you might need to pull part of headliner down to work on...)

Matt - exhaust tip is off of resonator, not muffler (which is located underneath mid-way between cats and resonator)... just remove it and run new pipe. You can get new tracks for your sunroof (search on web - places like discount Rovers of Atlantic British, etc.) http://www.atlanticbritish.com/ProductList.asp?Category=ALL&Vehicle=D1&PerPage=1 &ListType=DETAIL&PartNumber=EGM100192G A/C switch not getting power - I would assume that could be a quik n easy fix (new switch, relay, etc.)... http://www.atlanticbritish.com/ProductList.asp?Category=ALL&Vehicle=D1&PerPage=1 &ListType=DETAIL&PartNumber=STC3133G or more substantial... Hope this helps...do some surfing...lots of info out there...others will probably provide more insight... Good Luck, W2 99D1 |

Would the rover still pass inspection without a resonator? Thanks, Matt |

all the resonator does is "tune" the sound...it does not effect the exhaust gasses exiting the vehicle... the sunroof rails are a *weak* point on rovers...that is just the way it is...there is a tech article on replacing sunroof rails in the ... wait for it ... the tech section. aside from that enjoy your new truck and welcome to discoweb... mike |
