Right now I run regular with zero pinging. Any idea what the optimium advance is for altitude on a '94 3.9?

What about if I am willing to go to premium fuel?

The LR manual says 5 +-1 degrees BTDC for the '93 3.9L Rangie. Probably same for Disco 3.9L. My Mercruiser manual (boat - conservative) says advance 2 degrees for every 5000 feet.

Advancing the timing is tough on the bearings (I've done it on mine trust me) normally, but you could probably go a couple of degrees without problem.

Any other thoughts? Doesn't anybody advance their timing at altitude? And do it themselves?
