I am going to put RTE SLS spacers on my Disco II for a 2" lift. I need help decidinig what to do for the front. I am getting a custon built class III reciever for the front to mount a warn multi-mount winch, which will be in the trunk most of the time. So, weight is not a concern.

I was thinking to just get 2" spacers for the front and then put OME shocks all around. Supposedly this will not change the driving feel at all, but changing the springs will somewhat. Or are springs a better option? If so, why?

Thanks for any advice on this.

Jamil

i think the ome springs i put on made the truck *more* stable, comfortable, and actually better on the road. the stock springs just seem a little soft.

but like a lot of things, it is personal opinion.

oh...i intend to install a winch front bumper, a winch and one of greg davis' rear bumpers as well. i say this because you mentioned the weight issue. i am currently not as heavy as i will be by the end of the summer and i still think every thing is ok...

good luck,

mike

I'd go with the springs myself. Some people may like spacers. I put spacers in the same catagory as duct tape and bailing wire. It's an additional component that doesn't need to be there. If you want that much lift, spring for springs and a body lift which puts spacers between the body and the frame.
Besides, if your considering using the stock springs, they don't comparison to OME or RTE.

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll go with OME Medium duty springs and the RTE SLS spacers in the back. That should be level for 2" lift. And I can still use the air suspension for 2" more off road.

Also, anyone know the size of steel wheels for putting on 265/75/16s? and where I can buy them?

If you put spacers on the stock springs, you will raise the center of gravity of the truck, and with the stock softly sprung springs it may not handle very well. Most people that do use spacers use them in conjunction with a stiffer spring like the OME to alleviate any handling problems as these springs are much stiffer. Just go with the OME or RTE springs and suitable shocks and you will be very happy, you can add some spacers later if you want more height.

Jamil, factory 16" wheels are perfect for 265's.
that is what I have done , and if you look most Discos here run the same set up.
