Since I have been a member of this board, I have read about other D2 owners that have experienced problems with the front Driveshaft. I remember one person in particular that had one fail dynamically while going down the freeway and read about others that have snapped them in the field. Well, I guess I lucked out. I was coming home from Maryland last weekend and while driving down I-40 at 70 mph, I started feeling a bad vibe and heard a loud chirping. I made it home and crawled underneath to inspect. The front driveshaft aft u-joint had all the signs of complete fatigue failure. I could move different parts of the pivot points with my finger. This heavy vibe that ocurred also affected my T-case. It was completely soaked with fluid and there was fluid splash all the way back on the rear diff. Funny thing is that Kyle warned me about this a year ago and a few weeks ago I emailed GBR about u-joint replacement. The Pig is at the dealer because I still have warranty on it. When I get all the details, I'll post it here. Paul |

Paul...lucky you...mine self-destructed and took out the transmission, t-case and both cats...I just replaced my stock with a custom shaft made with a spicer DC and u-joints...sounds like you lost the front output shaft seal on the t-case... frank |

Just before my warranty expired in April I had the shop look at it. They said it was fine but 3 months later it was gone. I got to it before it did major damage but it failed 3 months late. Now that I have it in pieces in my garage I'm hearing rumors of a recall. |
