I am attempting to remove one of the rear storage bins in my D2. I've got the lid off. I was able to pull off the vent area cover near the door and fit a small hex key in that to remove the lower screw. I've still got the upper screw to remove, the 2 screws that are on the side by seat belts, then somehow detach it from whatever is locking the base of panel on. I'm stuck, how can I get it off? Thanks, Jamie |

hey jamie...so far so good... the screw is actually a torx head screw. sometimes an allen or hex key will fit, but i used a torx T-10 bit in a 1/4 inch ratchet. there was nice room inside to turn the ratchet. to get to the upper screw you will have to just stick your hand and the tool up inside on your vent side. for the other side, remove the cargo area cover (if you have not already done so) and look at the top of the post where the seatbelt emerges. on top there are two plugs, one small round and one larger rectangle. don't worry about the small rectangle. use a small screw driver and remove the small round cover to expose the phillips screw. remove the screw. the top section of that post will now be removable, but do not lift up...the top section needs to be slid on a flat plane toward the center line of the truck (if you are sitting in the cargo area, slide toward you). now you can stick your hand inside the seatbelt tower to remove the other two screws. with all four screws removed the panel lifts straight up. it may be a little "stuck" on the sides, but all that holds the panel in at this point is friction and gravity. good luck with your power tank...;) mike |

Thanks Mike, I just finished. Over 7 hours to remove 4 screws -- the last one (bottom right took the majority of time, I was finally able to access it by removing dog guard for better access angle and by removing the screw holding the aux plug in so I could see the bloomin' thing. At least bin is out of there,I should be happy about that, but I have spent the last several hours (getting the last screw out) thinking about selling my truck. I've just about has enough of trying to fix this stuff myself. I am even beginning to understand why everyone has such a rotten attitude about dealerships. I can't even get thru the service dept to techs to try to get someone to help. Mind you, I told service dept that I would be more than willing to pay techs to do this. Perhaps I've been niave, but I just don't get it. I'm trying to make the interior of my rover safe with equipment stowed onboard without damaging my rover in the process. I still like how Ron L mounted his power tank bracket after removing his cargo bin. I do think that is an excellent spot for mounting tank. I hope to find out what he drilled that to, I was able to feel metal behind as he said in his June 26 post about CO2 tank mounting. Not that it is going to do me any good - I still have not found anyone who will even fill tank. I think I'm going to have to apologize to dancing BJ - for fussing at him about his profile pic - because now I don't like my rover either. Thanks AGAIN for your help, Jamie |

don't worry about it jamie...you are on a bigger road than just trying to get your truck ready for a trip out west. you are learning how to work on your own stuff, you have a big support group here on this website, and (most importantly) you are finding out (even if it takes longer than you wanted it too) you can fix whatever you want. keep going. all will be cool. and don't let a schedule drive your goals. you have gone from a stock truck to one that will be able to deal with most anything in record time. if it is not perfect, who cares, drive it as it is and have a good time. remember the most important bit of equipment in any truck is the driver. don't be afraid of going on your trip just because you have a few things left on your list, look at the things that are crossed off your list and be impressed! mike |

Jamie, As far as filling the tank, I take my CO2 tank to a welding supply, and they send it with their other tanks to be filled. I know that some will exchange your tank for a filled one, but if you dropped 400+ on a power tank you probably want that same one back... Try that or even a medical-gas supply like PRAXAIR or AIR-LIQUIDE (these are national chains). |

Thanks Ryan, That is a GOOD idea. I never thought of asking if they could send mine to be filled with other tanks. I will call them and try that. NOW I think I understand why everyone has a spare tank on hand!!

A place like Airgas should be able to fill it on site no problem. In fact, any welding supply places should be able to take care of you in about 5 min. |
