Wondered if anyone was running the OME N76 rear shock and what your real world observations were - both on and off-road. Also, if you were using extended mounts or stock (with an adapter on the bottom)

Thanks,
Bill

Bill,

I have been using them for ~2 years now. thay are good shocks, BUT, they are WAY too soft, and I am about to change for some Bilstein that I can valve according to my likings.
The good thing is that they are sturdy, just like any other OME shock, but, TOO SOFT.

I have the OME HD springs and the N76 shock. I like the shock. It is softer than the N44's I had before, but the truck does not bounce all over the place. I get about 2 bounces on a big bump. On a speed bump you might get 1.5. I have a friend who got the Bilsteins and did not like them. He sent them back to have them re-valved and still does not like them. Now he has a pile of money in them. At first I did not use the extended shock mounts, but the shocks would bottom out on big bumps off-road. Over all I like them.

i too put them on a 3" lifted D1 (tt/dt combo)and they were way to soft. especially when you combine freeway speeds and little to no extra weight in the back. the back end wanted to float all over the place. they're fine for flex but they're to soft for decent daily driving driving.
in my opinion, they should not be advertised as a viable option for these vehicles, because they are not valved for the weight.

Thanks all - I figured that'd be the reply based on old posts, but wanted to double check.

Really don't want to pony up for 5100 or 6100 Bilsteins, and even then, some folks hav ebeen unhappy with those (5100 - to hard).

Thanks,
Bill

Bill...I'm trying to save up for some Bilsteins as well...but since I already have the N76s, I am not complaining. I do carry a hell of a load in the back and that helps.
