I am looking to remove the wrap- around brush bar from my Disco II. Is this a pretty straighforward procedure or does this involve bumer removal. If anyone has the steps involved or has done this kindly share the information with me.

well, if its the same for the d2, as I did on my d1 just climb inder there, undo the 4 nuts on the inside of the frame rails holding it on. Lide the bolts out enough that they clear the brush bar mounts, and let it slide out. Push the bolts back all the way in, and put the nuts back on and tighten NOTE if you take the bolts out further than just what you need to remove the brush bar, your bumper may fall on you. ( on the d1 anyway so be acareful) josh |

Raj, My dealership finally got around to delivering mine back home after they removed it for me. If it would help you to see what the back of it looks like to see attachment points, I would be happy to take photo of it and upload it to this thread. Jamie |

The brush bar removal is not very difficult on the D2. You have the four bolts behind the bumper holding it on and the two "anti-vibration" screws holding it on the sides. You will have to remove the plastic plate underneath the bumper and there is a tubular metal member that you may have to remove, but other than that it's pretty straight forward. My recommendation is not to get a factory brush bar. If you get in any kind of SMALL accident that even gently pushes on the bar you will dent one of your fenders and possibly crack your very expensive factory bumper. Go all the way and get a Rovertym slimline. It's the best money I've spent on my rover and it looks great and it can take a beating. I took off my factory brush bar after it decided to do a number on my bumper and passenger side fender when I went in a very deep ditch here in Alaska. |

Listen to John. DON'T buy a factory brush bar - especially if you plan on going off road. Not only is it ridiculously expensive, it will get you stuck faster than anything else on the front of stock rover, and it covers up the factory recovery point -- so you are SOL if you need to be recovered from the front. Of course, I put myself in the same position in the front recovery department with my Tom & Jerry bumper. The extreme looks of the RoverTym scared me off, but it looks better to me everyday and I have a strong feeling that is what will eventually replace my TJM. Good Luck! Jamie |
