Quick question - 1996 Disco, intermittently when applying the brake on the road (not wet pavement or uneven) the red parking brake light will go on & stay on after I come to a stop. Any suggestions?? Thanks joe |

Not sure about rovers, but on other autos this light will come on when/if brake fluid/hydraullic fluid is low. |

First thing I checked -it's topped off. Maybe it's a bad sensor. This vehicle does have that hill descent braking thing & I noticed while doing some offroading that it no longer works, but the light still illuminates. Kind of strange..... |

Methinks it's the ABS he's talking about ( ) since the ABS is so damn loud on these things. My guess was low fluid, but what if it's low pressure in the lines? |

Yeah, when I go down a really steep hill the parking brake light comes on & it slows down the truck. Now maybe I'm crazy but I think it is in the owners manual too. It's definitely not the ABS..... |

No HDC (thankfully) on 1996 - you've got some other issues. Really sounds like low brake fluid, but if you say it is topped up, could be the sensor cap. Check the connections for corrosion, tightness, etc. When was the last full flush? Bill
