I want to clean/reset the ABS sensors on my 96 Disco. If I follow the ABS wire to the hub, it enters through a rubber grommet in a steel plate. The plate is held on with two bolts on the top of the hub. Is this where the sensor is housed? If I remove these two bolts, can I lift the sensor assembly out? What should I clean them with? Thanks. |

You can lift the sensor out by prying gently with a flat bladed screwdriver or trim removal tool. "Cleaning" sensor really does nothing - they are sealed units. The only adjustment you can make is gap The two bolts to which you refer are the upper swivel pin bolts - only remove those if you are resetting swivel preload, or doing a swivel rebuild. Bill |

If you remove the two bolts, you'll spill out your swivel oil. Guess how I know. If you have a problem with your sensors, you might want to try tapping them inward, not pulling them out. I doubt a cleaning will make a difference. |

96 Disco here, A couple of days ago I pulled one of my sensors half way out, pushed it back in. Then pulled the second one all the way out wiped it off and put it back. No more Anti-lock light! Taking it off and wiping it probly didn't have anything to do with it, but why dose it smell so bad? all greasy too... |
