Hi i just bought my Disco off used car lot "as is". Of course after driving it home for 320m, i realized that it looks like log nuts on all wheels are locked (got that shiny stainless cup on each, which seems to move a bit). At least when i tried to unscrew them with provided wrench - then wont move. Typically enough - dealer didnt gave me lock key, nor actually any manuals (i ordered Hayness and owners manual already). So question is - can someone tell me suggested torque on those nuts, or place to get key for those locks (those are stock, by the looks of it) or just how to get damn thing on. I need to replace shocks and tires (mind you - 133K and it still got original shocks.. ugh). Thanks in advance |

can you post a picture... usually there would only be one locked lug nut and you should be able to get a new key from LR or atlantic british, etc... These lugs are notoriously hard to get off if they have been over tighten or on the truck for a long amount of time. There is some funky electrolosis going on with the alum rims, alloy bolts & steel rotors... it is not uncommon for people to break their wrenches before breaking the nuts loose. If you have access to an airgun you can do this or stop by your local tire store & ask them to break them free... once the are off, add some antiseize compound & only tighten to spec... Good luck.. lots of info here on how to do springs & shocks.. |

I used electrical cleaner to spray on and then used a breaker bar to take mine off. The supplied lug wrench just bent. |

Thank you all for suggestions. ... I looked at pics around - looks those lug nuts (hey this time i spelled it right ) just stuck (mine looks similar to what on pictures, so i assuming they arent really locking). So i will just let tire shop to deal with it - aint got huge airgun in my posession. Probably will cough up 60$ for them to install shocks at same time, so i wouldnt have to do it later same day.

The torque setting for the lug nuts is 130Nm. I tried taking mine off the other day to check the brake pads and was only able to remove one tire, then I almost broke the POS factory wrench. Any ideas where one can find a wrench that won't bend like rubber? |

Federico: I broke the stock one like it was made of pot metal ... sheared it completely off. You can get a proper sized socket (1&1/16 IIRC) and use a 1/2" drive breaker bar OR you can order a heavy duty lug wrench from Rover's North for $16. The RN wrench is more than up to the job. |
