I am hoping by next summer to be able to put a 2 inch lift on my Disco, but for now I am looking at the need of new shocks and tires. Since I can't go too large on tires any size recommendations?

I also need new shocks, I have read alot in the archives about shocks and springs, so I hope that I am not repeating anyone. I have seen on the web every thing from OME to monroe to bilstiens for disco's. I hear that the OME are two soft with a lift and Bilstiens to hard....Help.

I will mostly be using as a daily driver, but plan to start off roading when all is done (fixing stuck CDL to start with). I am trying to get the best of both worlds.

Any suggestions before I just go out and buy whatever I find.

That is unless someone points me to a place that will offer a good package deal where I can get both springs and shocks for a nice price...

Well, it depends what you planning to do. If you looking for cushy ride, and later on will go over HUGE rocks and slow speed - then you cool with softer shocks. If you looking for sharper cornering, driving on small to regular rocks or rooted trails - harder ones is your choice (they return truck in previous position faster).

I dont know about bilsteins for Disco, but i have them on my XTerra and they are making really good suspension on and off-road.

Right now i am upgrading suspension on my Disco and ordered set of Pro Comp shocks (9000 series)- they are like half price of OME/Stock/Monroe, and i seen very good reviews on them. So we shall see :-)

Oh and if you looking for package price on OME set it looks like 4x4connections got best deal at the moment.

I think that for maximum bombproofness, very tolerable ride, and decent offroad ability, I would go with OME shocks and springs with 245/75 tires.
If you want to maintain your wheel travel in the rear, you will have to do an extension on the shocks. The combo of taller springs and standard length shocks hurts you a little off road. This problem is totally taken care of with a $afari Gard drop kit.
Then, when your done, you will realize that you have only begun the endless road to Disco modification. I mean really, its only money - right.
