Forgive, me for I have sinned. I have raised a question that I am sure is answered in the archives somewhere... but I could'nt find it... If I were to get the JATE rings for the Disco, where exactly would I put them on the front? I can't seem to remember seeing any holes that run through to put the bolt into, do you drill your own? I also have a factory brush bar, and a cut factory bumper. If you have successfully put good recovery points onto the front of your DI without much expense or without putting a new bumper on, I would appreciate some photos or a description. Thanks. http://landrover.mrbaileyshistory.net |

The problem appears to be as I suspected: The brush guard is bolted to the frame in the same spot the JATE would go. My truck does not have the detachable tow hook as shown in that last web site given. In it's place is the brush guard, and that is not suitable for recovery, towing yes, but not off-road recovery when actually stuck. The JATEs barely fit over the frame as it is, with the brush guard on, they would not fit at all. |

Get a real bumper, that will solve the problem. |

For D1s, on passenger side of frame, further back a bit from the bumper point you were talking about is a tube that is welded on that is available for the JATE ring. That's where I've attached mine. The driver side of the frame, also has this tube but it is actually occupied by part of the steering linkage and unavailable. But at least you will have one tow point available. |

RB, you can make the JATE rings work with the factory brush bar. I had that same combination before I bought my TJM. All you have to do is spread the JATEs about an 1/8" or so. I used a floor jack I had in my storage room to spread mine. |
