Hi,

Does anyone know the results of removing the trumpet shaped plastic moulding pressed into the D1 ('96 MY) air filter box. I need the space for a battery and am removing it. Has anyone else done this...with what success?

It doesn't seem much different to say a snokel installation? Only the air can be drawn from closer to the block...perhaps warmer air?

Thanks

Roly

Thanks Noel,

I get what you mean. If its not going to cause a prob thats a good idea. I cut the flared end off and say glue it against the filter box housing hole. This results in the same flow input as the original design, without the 200mm long pipe

Cheers
Roly.

Based on a dyno test on the 3.9 (d-90) there was a loss of power when that "horn" was removed. FWIW
