LOL

Richard, not a dumb question at all, I wonder the same thing. I use it to hang a trash bag or water bottle when traveling.

A dealer once told me its for the Lady to hang her purse while driving, this way she does not have to reach far for it.

It's a called curry hook. Apparently Indian take-out is big in England, and securing the bags of food in a vehicle is a challenge. When Land Rover developed the D2, they polled the staff for suggestions on which features to incorporate into the new vehicle, and the curry hook came in high on the list. I am not making this up, there was a writeup about it in one of the UK rags around the time the D2 was introduced.

My wife told me that it was probably to hang her purse. This seemed to make too much sense to me and being that my dII is much to "sofisticated" for this explanation. I hate when she is right!

Thanks, Richard

PS What does CDL stand for.

Curry hook or fast food is right, salesman must have pointed it out 1/2 a dozen times when i was looking for my D11.

Also great for hanging a rubbish bag from when travelling.

Anyone have a CAD drawing of a curry hook? I'm looking for something to boost my gas mileage and improve performance and this might just be it.

Didn't know that was what it was for. So I have the curry hook, now where can I get a good takeaway curry?
