What is the best stuff to put on the plastic end caps on the bumper to restore the black finish. Mine is faded pretty good. Do you think shoe polish will work, or is something else better. Thanks for the help. |

Back to black looks nice after spraying on but needs re-spraying quite often - not a permanent solution.

Alan, your end caps look like they just might need more than some dressing.

Alan G, Deepest sympathies and congratulations. Surely this is a badge of courage not to be erased with the application of a silicon based spray. I terminated my end cap last Sunday whilst executing the simplest of maneuvers after a series of challenging climbs by reversing into a gum tree that had placed itself in a blind spot. My challenge now is to find a suitable replacement that doesn't stand out as being new. Therefore has any one got a spray-on rub-in spray that can age my new end cap? Mahn |

Many things work - for a little while. Nothing seems to work for long.

You can buy those end caps at most Rover web sites for under $30.00. Joe |

Try ForeverBlack from Atlantic British. It lasts for about 1 year and then you have to re-apply. Thanks, Mike B. |

Find a auto detail supplier and buy a can of SEM bumper paint. It comes in several different shades of gray and black to match different makes, universal black should work for the Disco. It is made to paint plastic bumpers. clean with mineral spirits first. One can should do all four corners and will last for years. Jeff |

Perhaps you cuold make some new end caps out of wood, I've seen plenty of bent up Land Rovers but the trees always seem to be OK. |

Alan, LOL, I will sit on my verandah chewing backy and whittle a couple this weekend. Exterior Woodgrain.... takes me back to the Morris Minor Estate. The next post will have something to do with pest extermination and how do I deal with termites in my endcaps. Mahn

Mahn, I think we may have gone slightly away from the tecnical discussions, but while you've got your whittlin' knife out, could you please whittle me a set of rock sliders and a winch? Thanks, Alan PS - It's for a '94 DI |
