Does anyone know the GM part number for a fuel pump on a 96 Disco? Even if the part number is not a GM part but another brand that is compatable, it would be greatly appreciated. The fuel pump went out about two days ago and it looks a lot more fun ripping out the back of my car than to waste a few hundred with the dealers. Stewart Crow |

Stewart in OZ you use one out of a GM Commodore V8. the pump is the same but have to swap it on to the original pick up and the wires are backwards. I have also just use generic inline injection pumps. You can fit it to the chassis and it just sucks through the old one, just get one that will deliver 38psi and enough volume. The ones that fit Jag xj6 ser3 are the right size. |

Stewart, Pick up a Carter P74006 from your local parts store. I just did my '96 last weekend with this one and it's just plug and play. Plug and polarity are correct and no messing about. Be careful when you remove the fuel hose from the old pump, mine had a barbed fitting which had stretched the hose too big, so I just replaced it with another piece of fuel hose. I found this link in searching the D-Web archives: http://www.rangerovers.net/repairdetails/fuelpump.htm It helped enormously. Email me if you run into problems. Cheers, Shawn |

Thanks for the help yall. I just got through switching out my pumps and the rover roared to life again. I ended up getting the E2002 pump from Autozone. If you are doing this, don't forgot to pick up a fuel strainer for the bottom of the fuel pump. The one off the LR fuel pump is not compatable with the E2002 pump. However the parts store does carry them. Sorry I don't have that part number with me but if you really need it just email me. Reversing the polarity was a lot simpler than it sounded. Basically just stripping and reconnecting two wires. Alright, thanks for the help. Stewart Crow |
