I own a 94 Disco 3.9 auto. The Disco ran fine until the other day when I first started the Disco in the morning the idle was very high and I had to wait for about 30 second before the idle went into the normal position. It ran fine all morning, then the same problem happen with the high idle, I waited for the idle to come down to the normal position. when I tried to put it into drive the engine ran rough and quit running, I restated the the engine but the engine only turned over but wouldnt start. I had the Disco towed home. I removed the distributor cap and found that the rotor tip had an arch and was black the 8 cap post were also arched. I replaced the cap and rotor but it wouldnt start. I checked the coil by installing a spark plug on the other end of the coil wire and turned over the engine it had a large spark but when I put a spark plug on any of the spark plug wires from the distributor cap the spark was very weak. I checked the fuel system and it worked fine, any ideas to this problem? |
