Problem started last week. Temp gauge went up to above 1/2 which is not normal, so i shut the air conditioning and everything went back to normal. Got home, waited till the temp went down, topped up with water and the went on fine for the next 2 days. Went away for 4 days with it being used for short trips by my dad.
BIG PROBLEM yesterday. No problems in the morning to work but all hell broke loose on the way back. After 10 minutes and about 10 kilometers, temperature went to 3/4, so i shut the air conditioning. Still went up to top mark (before the red line) so pulled over the freeway. Pop the hood up and heard bubbling. Released pressure slowly, for the next 10 minutes and temperature dropped to 1/4. Started again without the airconditioning. 40 minutes down the road temperature shot up again. Stopped and did as above.
HELP. Im worried that the cylinder head will warp. Just got it replaced 2 months ago. Cost a bom. After replacing, got the mechanic to flush the water system and replace the coolant and water. Did this cause my problem? Or is is the water pump?

Any help is appreciated.

So temp still rose while running on the highway?
IF radiator is good replace the thermostat it may be sticking closed or partly closed
Water pump is also suspect

What mixture he (mechanic) got there? 70/30? 50/50?
How clean your radiator from outside (dirt will prevent fins from cool normally)?
Did you check fan to be going ok, while engine running, and is there something blocking air from coming into compartment?
Coolant level? :-) Hooses accidentally clamped? :-)

Hmm.. what stupid suggestion i might have... Oh yeah! Water wetter from Red Line or Purple Ice ? But then its for case when you just getting too high, but not really overheating...

I.e check those above before shooting for water pump :-)
