I am currently investigating a 3" lift for my 97 Disco. I am interested in the OME 764's up front and OME 762's in back with 1.5" spacers. My truck has an ARB front with a MM E9000, homemade sliders and a TJM rear bumper. I do plan to add an Adv Rack later. I currently am running OME shocks that came with the OME MD 761/764 kit and 245/75R16 tires. With the 3" lift I will run 265/75R16's or 235/85R16's. I do have my rear sway bar disconnected.

What else is mandatory to upgrade/replace if I go the 3" route if anything?

1) Longer Brake lines
2) 2" Lower Shock mount or new longer shocks?
3) Front and rear trailing arms?
4) Rear A Arm drop kit

I see all this stuff on web sites and don't know if it's all really neccessary?

What's your experiences and thoughts?

Thanks Rog

roger,
i've put this setup on a few trucks, and the biggest problem that you will encounter is the limitations in droop with the ome shocks that you are currently running. these shocks will bottom out (on extension) very quickly with the additional height. the obvious solution to this problem is to get longer shocks. with longer shocks you will then need longer brake lines. radius arms/trailing arms are nice but are not necessary, but understansd that with the additional height, the arm angles increase and the bushings will wear out sooner (how soon depends on how the vehicle is driven)
the rear a arm kit is not necessary at all for this application with those tire choices..
so, a few options:
"Fox" shocks front and rear
OME N73 front, N44 w/ scorpian racing drop mount
(stay away from the N76 rear shock way to soft)
rovertyms shock mount kit (coned or retained)

if you just want the height and aren't concerned with the lost of downward travel, you will be fine running the shocks that you currently running. be warned though, these shocks will fully extend, not critical but can be annoying
hope that helps and didn't add to the confusion
marc

I agree about the shocks check out the expedition exchange web site for information on an inexpensive way to extend your shocks. I cannot tell the difference with the "caster" corrected RTE front radius arms and have not done the rear yet.

You may find vibrations in your front drive shaft and it may need to be replaced. GreatBasinRovers.com makes one as well as the roto-flex to U-joint conversion which you may need as well..
Some get away without but some trucks run into drivetrain problems like these...
Call Bill at GreatBasinRovers excellent guy with tons of the info your looking for!

I was looking at a 3" suspension lift but decided to run a 2" bodylift and a 2" suspension lift to reduce drivetrain stress a bit...
