I am going to install my new CB tomorrow and mount the antenna on the spare tire carrier. I read the EE article on this matter. But how do I get the coaxial cable through the existing hole? It says that they didn't need to cut it at all. I took the tire off today and removed the gromet. It seems a bit too small for the cord head to fit. I am trying to fit a Radio Shack cord through. Maybe it fits sideways, but it doesn't look promising. Any help would be great. Jamil |

undo the connector. feed the bare cable in, then after you route the whole thing, redo the connector. |ho>

Thanks Ho, but I don't see how to take apart the cable without ruining it. Here's a photo of the cord. Do I remove the end where the silver touches the black cord? Or does this cord not seem to come apart the way yours does? http://www.pbase.com/image/21010380/large.jpg Thanks, Jamil |

it doesn't look like this cord comes apart. It's all 1 metal piece. I don't think i can, but can I cut the cord and splice it? |

yes, you have to ruin it. you can find the DIY connectors at radio shack. some require soldering, some don't. may the force be with you. |ho>

Thanks. I figured it wouldn't be that easy. Just didn't want to have to cut if I didn't have to. Thanks again. |

Don't use the solderless PL-259 connectors. They are all crap. |

Thanks for all the info. Since I'm having tons of mods done in the shop I'll just wire it (flip the tire carrier while I'm at it) and have the pros do the soldering. |
