Can I drive with no front driveshaft?

It's a 99 D2. Can I do something to allow me to drive it? BTW - the guy at the driveshaft shop was surprised to see a rover front shaft with the cv (i think he called it a cv at one end of the shaft.) He said he's done rover UJ's before... Is this three jointed shaft normal for 99? THe front ujoint on my front prop shaft gave out, took it out and dropped it off at the shop. Now I can get about if I really need to while I 'm waiting for the driveshaft. $141.00 to replace all three UJ's. Kenny
