I checked the search but couldn't find what I was looking for so here goes.

What is the largest tire I can put on my 03 Disco without a lift? ( can't get one for a bit yet)I do get flexy now and again so rubbing at flex is an issue. BUT, I still have my sway bars connected so will that limit the my stuffing capability and allow me to put larger tires???

Thanks
Ross Thoma

Ross,

I put on 255/70/16 Goodyear Wrangler MT/Rs on my '03 Disco with no lift. I haven't noticed any rubbing at flex. Doing sharp turns at lock, there is no rubbing as well.

I know there is another '03 owner on Discoweb who has 265/75/16, but I can't recall if he has completed a lift. I'll let him chime in here.

Ross,
I installed 265/75-16's on our 03' Disco. I also Installed a 3" lift to have enough clearance. We have zero rubbing in any position.

I have 245/75-16 on my D2 with no lift. No rubbing problems on flexy trails.

I ran 265/75-16 on my 2001 for several weeks before I put on the lift. I had slight rubbing once when the front tires were really torqued in a turn on a steep hill.

It did look strange though. I would prefer 270/75's on a stock truck.

Thanks guy's after a bit more research I am thinking of BFG T/A KO 265 70R16 they are the same size as the 31X10.5R15 that are on my ranger and I have had no problems with those for clearence where I go, on paper they are..

265 70R16
10.7" wide and 30.7" tall with a 7.30" sidewall
vs
265 75R16
10.7" wide and 31.8" tall with a 7.82" sidewall

I should still have enough sidewall to be good aird down, what do you think???

Yes you will have a strong enought sidewall. I run 255/70/16 BFG ATs on my D2 and I beat the shit out of them with never having a problem, aired up or down. (In my opinion the BFGs are the best tire for heavy duty use and most off-road conditions, but for specific off-road use such as mud, rocks, sand, others on this board prefer other tire makes.)

Thanks Pete

Last night I checked how my 31" tires would look on the disco and I think that the 265 70R16 will look and fit prety good.

Ross...lift or no lift in the future? If you are going to put it up in the air at all, go with the 265/75's. If not, 255/70's or 265/70's are the way to go (as it seems you have already figured).
