Can anybody describe the difference btwn a linear spring rate and a progressive shock rate?

In a nut shell, linear springs will have the same level of 'resistance' throughout their compression while progressive springs will progressively give more resistence as they are compressed.

Make sense?

Linear springs will give you a harsher ride, better for sporting autos. Progressive springs are what most if not all stock autos come with. It will give you the most comfortable ride. It's also harder to determine spring rates for progressive springs as they are variable to a degree. HTH
