Hello all, I had a Safari Snorkle added a few months ago and did not have any problems. A couple of weeks ago I added a K&N airfilter and lately I am noticing tiny oil rivulets running (they are not really running, just leaving marks) from under my snorkel down the front quarter panel. Am I crazy to think that the oil in the airfilter is leaking out of the snorkel or do I have a much more serious problem here? |

Shane, Where is the oil actually coming from? In between where the snorkel sits against the wing? Unless the snorkel is not sealed around the filter body nothing should be able to get from the air side of the engine to dribbling down the wing. Alan |

Who installed the snorkel? I run this setup on the road (K&N w/snorkel) and I've never seen anything like that. I bet whoever sinstalled it added some sealant to the outside where the snorkel meets the wing and you're seeing some kind of run off. You could always take it loose and check it out. |

Shane- I think Michael has nailed it. If you think the oil is from the filter, then the K&N must have been litteraly dripping when it was installed. Open the air filter box, and see if there is oil on the bottom of the box. If there is, is it air filter oil? Even if some unkind soul poured oil down the snorkle tube, it shouldn't leak on the fender if it was properly installed. Unless the Safari Snorkle has a crack or hole in it. I noticed you are in Columbia. Is your Disco run on gas or oil? If it is an oiler, I may not really know what I'm talking about as I think there is a different type of filter setup. -Reed

Thanks guys, I'll take a look in the filter box and look for excess oil. I'll also clean the area up really well and watch when (and hopefully how) the streaks appear and let you know what I find. At least I have some direction now. Reed, the Disco was bought in Virginia and I shipped it to Colombia so it is gas US spec.. -Shane |
