Bringing my 2003 Discovery SE into the dealership today for its first scheduled maintenance. I have had the car for 7 months and it has 7000 miles on it. Any suggestions on anything I should tell them to pay close attention to? Also, I think my wiper blades are wearing out, is it a rip off to by replacements from the dealer? Thanks.

Nothing to worry about right now, did you change the oil before 7K? If not, you should change the oil at least every 3K, it is very important to these trucks to do that because the engine is not of the best design. Make sure you use good gas as well. Before your warrenty is up you should listen to your engine, if you get a ticking noise get your rocker arms changed. My 2000 D2 had that problem. I think 03 Discos don't have a problem with the radiator, mine did, but LR fixed that problem. As for wipers, the arms on all D2s are wierd, so you must get the $$$$ piece of shit ones from the dealer, my suggestion is to order the winter wiper kit for a D2 from Rovers North in the resources part of this site. This kit uses the standard arm that most cars and trucks use. Hope I was helpful to you. Pete -2000 D2 43K

Not sure on the 2003 - but on my 2000 DII
radiator, valve job, and rocker arms were big itmes I had done. Just keep reading here and other will let you know of particular problems with your year.

As far as the wiper blades - I just took mine off, used a set of needle nose pliers and barely pulled the end bracket apart, slid out the wiper and replaced with one from PEP boys - saved about $20. The dealer will sell you the whole arm with the new blade - rip off, but convienient.

Make a list, include even the minor stuff that you think is wrong with the vehicle, eg. strange noises, wind sounds in the cabin, minor electical quirks etc. Be detailed and present them in a friendly manner to the service mgr. and have the dealer check the items out.(be sure to give them the list a week or 2 before).
Some will be normal, but my dealer found a bad transfer case, a windshield leak, and a bad ACE ECU. I'm happy b/c it was all covered under warranty. I had under 7500mi. and they knew I took it offroad.
I got a 2003 DII HSE w/ SLS & ACE

Cheers
