Anyone aware of a sturdy replacement am/fm antenna for the standard LR manuel antenna? I would like to replace as this one is on its last legs. I've seen black, rubber looking ones that wook like they would be a lot sturdier. Any suggestions, websites, brands, models? Thanks in advance everyone!

That's exactly what I'm looking for! When you say "auto shop" do you mean a parts place or a garage?

They seem to be quite conmen once you've managed to get one :-)

I used to have a rubber one....but it did not work so well. I have a good electric one now and I am very happy. Does your rubber one work well? If we listen to tunes off-road its always on CD...eclipse makes a very good CD player...and the electic just retracts.

Dave,
I would say it may not have the pull that other conventional antenna have but thats ok by me,it works as well as my old stock antenna :-)
When I,m in the bush I'd rather listen to my own CDs.
Or eaven better turn the music off and listen to my Truck.

I have the same one Noel! It came on my Disco when I bought it. Reception is fair....works about the same as most. And it's great for off-roading! Fun to watch it bend when you are on the highway too! :-)
