96 D1. Just the other day, on air conditioning, the interior fan started to growl. It is consistant but doesn't sound like it's binding. It is still pumping out air on heat and cool, as strong as before. Is the fan easy to access and service? Should I be looking for a new fan motor?

I had a similar problem when I put my fan on a higher spped (3or4). After pulling the fan I found the problem. . . A napkin had fallen into it and caused it to vibrate very loudly. Guess how I fixed it ;0) Something can fall from the glove box area into the fan quite easily. Give it a check before you spend $$$ on a new fan.

Happy Rovering!

Jeremy, actually had a look and seems a mouse started a bit of a nest under the hood and when the fan was turned on it sucked in some of his comfy bed, freak'in country living - I guess I need some felines. How did you access your fan and system to unclog the napkin?

Take the panel off from under the passenger footwell area. Black soft material. I don't recall all of the screw locations, but with the panel off and the fan motor exposed, it wasn't to difficult to remove. When the fan is out, just clean out the round cylindrical fan.

And getting a cat won't help. I've got two and a mouse still chewed the hell out of my hood insulation and made a nice home on my intake manifold.
