I was looking into 109 wheels for my D1, and came across this thread in the archives:

../17/1151.html>

Now, my question is this. In the thread it's mentioned that 109 wheels are 16x5.5" -- my alloys are 16x7". Will my tires fit the 109 wheels? They are stock size.

Anyone? I love how they look and they are damn cheap too...

I have been advised by three different parties that the 109 wheels are too narrow for those tires. I was looking at buying them also but decided to go with the NATO style Wolf wheels which are 6.5 wide I believe.

750-6 16 was the stock size on 109s I believe and therefore I don't see any reason why 235-7- or 85 16 shouldn't be ok too...
FWIW I have ANR 3107, the 110 6.5 inch rim see photo gallery

235 wide tire will fit.

be warned that some of those rims are of a two piece design and will require an inner tube.

otherwise should work fine.

Okay, can we have some consensus? Bryan says no, Chris and Rob say yes. Given post counts I tend to side with Chris and Rob (Particularly a Lounge Member), but I want to be sure.

Any math to help walk me through why they will/will not fit? :-)

You can also look at the specs from the tire company. I just put on BFG AT 245/75/16. It recommends a minimun of 6.5 inches wide on the wheel.
If you put a tire like that on a 5.5, is it gonna fall off? Probably not. But the profile will change and hence the ride qualities and wear patterns.
You never did mention the size of your tires but I would check that.
