I passed threw Richmond Va last weekend and stopped in to check out the babe at the dealership. I don't know which one is the one you guys were foaming over but their were two there and they were both pretty nice. I don't think either of them was real hot but they were both funny and nice.

Hi. I'm one of those not so hot chicks who work at LandRover Richmond. I'm glad you thought the service you received was a pleasant experience, as we like to treat our customers in the manner they would expect from an outstanding dealership, but Mandy and I are considered VERY HOT to a lot of people. And I don't believe that it has anything to do with bored, married men.

Sincerely,

Shelby

I wouldn't even give this guy the time of day, Shelby. I live in Richmond, and have been at the dealership many times for parts, etc. and both of y'all are quite attractive.

Anyway, the dealership seems much better since a certain service manager left and Mike took over the helm. You have always been very pleasant and courteous and it made it much easier to overlook the previous service manager's "less than accomodating" attitude. Thanks!!!

Well, we do have Alyssa, but, we can't really flirt w/ her in-front of Ron.... lol.....

And, mine's not a beer-gut, it's a pepsi-gut, actually, though it's had it's share of beer, too....

And, I'm just now at 30... and not balding... yet!

'Course, my wife'd kill me if she even thought that there were any girls at a Rover event.... she's got this mental picture that it's all guys, since she can't see why any girls would be interested in off-roading.... sheesh....

yeah i hear Ron gets pretty mean when taunted. lol. that and alyssa needs to be on here more like the rest of us freaks. i mean do i really have a job? i better check.

this reminds me of the quote in Stripes when John Candy is explaining his weight issue. "Duey Oxburger"

you see shelby we had a long thread on here about "white letters in or out". a very worthy conversation as you can tell. but when i put on my new black NATO steel wheels i went with outlined letters out. i thought it looked pretty decent, but of course many others busted on me about it. none of the ladies (gil you don't count) commented on them, so i was just asking.

Hey Shelby, gp's a VERY sensitive guy, good looking and so deft with women you'd think he was gay. Well, jolly at the very least, but then again I missed the Big Daddy yellow shorts thing at Uwharrie, so I can't really say for sure. *I* might need back up here, but I'd say Kim (Roverine) can handle herself, no problem. She's our down-with-heavy-firearms girl and woe is the ill-advised turkey that elects to mess with her (G). I'd give Leslie LOTS of room, every time we turn around his wife is preggers. Definitely not shooting blanks. (Note to Leslie: It never occurred to your wife that girls go where the boys are? I mean, that's what I tell my boy riders here, "Stick around, this is where the girls are!" LOL!)

gp, that what you were looking for? (VBG)

Shelby,

You're quite welcome... I was trying to back out of this thread as things seem to be getting kinda deep around here (maybe it's time to think about getting that snorkle...).

Anyway, my wife and I bought the Charleston Green '97 from the "non-LR" dealer down the street last year. REALLY wanted to buy one from you guys, but just couldn't afford it. In retrospect, we should've probably waited, but you know how "new car fever" is! I thought we had the only Charleston Green Disco in Richmond 'til a couple of weeks ago when I passed another on Pump Road. We looked at each other like we'd seen ghosts!

Anyway, "cheers" as they say across the pond! Hope to see you again at the dealership soon!

Re: Potato cannons

Last Labour Day Rally, we were sitting around talking on the Friday night. About 1:30am one of us remembered that we had a potato cannon. Out it came and BANG BANG BANG. Much fun was had shooting potatos at the barn and across the road etc. Then my friend Mongo said "Hey, lets shoot it straight up in the air and see where it lands" (Hey, it seemed like a really good idea at the time). We all agreed this would be great so BANG!! straight up in the air. Silence. We stood around for what seemed for ever (probably about 5-8 seconds) without any sign of the potato. Suddenly we all realised where it was likely to land. "AAAhhhhhh" we all ran into the big army tent we have at our rallies. Just then we heard BOOOOM!!! The potato had landed and it had hit something hard. We though it had probably hit one of the camper trailers or Gerald's 101 Vampire. We ran out and Mongo yelled "Ahhh, my truck!" The potato had landed right on the roof of his gorgeous week old (temp plates still) Beluga Black DII, right between the two sunroofs. It had hit the crossbar on his Adventure rack and the truck was plastered with mashed potato. The next day it poured rain and he had starch running all over the truck. It was very funny (you probably had to be there for the full effect).

I can't remember if I met Shelby, but Mandy sure was a sight for sore eyes. I was on my way to MAR2001 when I stopped at the Glenn A. Trent truck plaza in Lynchburg, VA at midnight and pumped about 9 gallons of water into my fuel tank (water in the ground tanks at the pump). Killed my fuel pump. Long story short, spent the night driving to Richmond in the cab of this guys Jer-Dann rollback wrecker.

Mandy was opening up shop at LR Richmond when we rolled in at 7:15am (we spent from midnight to 4am draining and syphoning the bad gas/water out of the tank and trying to restart). She was quick with the sympathy, hot coffee, and soft couch and a truck load of freebie t-shirts, coffee mug, hats for me and my brother Rick.

The technicians were first rate, did a great job cleaning everything out and we were on our way by 11am. I even sport a "LRR" sticker from the dealer on my rig. I never got to thank Mandy or LR Richmond, so here you go lady!

You Rock Baby!

Ron,

Wow...thank you a ton for even so much as remembering my name. I remember that whole episode, your brother had an old Series vehicle no? And the tow driver had one foot in the grave didn't he? The worst thing about my job is not being able to do enough. So many times our hands are tied by one thing or another, and when "transients" like yourselves roll through, it's all we can do to squeeze in the assistance sometimes...in that particular case, the old service manager was at the helm...and he was...in need of a shove...glad I was able to help and glad you got to MAR2001. They put on a good show up there in Buckingham.

Thanks for remembering me...and Shelby is wrong...I am truly, basically...evil.

Mandy,

We had a great weekend despite the trouble. I think we wound up going something like 39 hours without sleep and managed a wicked night ride Friday night at the MAR site. That log bridge is tough when you're on the verge of a coma. You know we had to drive all the way back to Lynchberg and pick up the IIa AFTER waiting on my brothers Ford F150 to receive it's new fuel pump too!!!

Anyway, you guys came through for me despite the creepy service manager and the ancient guy from the truck stop (I had to tell him about the history of Appamatox Court House to keep him awake at one point!!!!!!!). There's a good shot of the LRR stick on my rear bumper in my gallery.

Hope to be up in Buckingham County again this October.

oh i see now Gil. trying to be all nice now after you have bashed my beloved truck. oh that's ok. i mean your dealer must really hate you if they are not able to part with a few steel lug bolts. i mean geeeez. haha.
richmond is about a 4 to 4 1/2 hour drive for me. i mean those better be some kick ass brownies guys!!!
nice website too. but i think you need some shots of my white T truck in there to add a little 'character' to all those purty D2's.
don't mind Gil though. he gets a little nervous around the ladies. i use to, but after some counseling and '1-2-3' classes i am much better. i can now be around heather at least and not have a siezure!!
so when are you swinging by Gil in that Mexican low rider of yours, so we can hit some trails in the VA area??

ps: those are damn nice jackets that were used for the Trek event. if i am not mistaken they are Mountain Hardwear. moss green no less. :)

Good to see the effort.

Dinga,

I'm that same guy. (So many people seem to know who I am... I guess I stand out!!) I bought my 1st one from Tony actually. :) I do work in the music business (my weekly job) as Artist Relations Mgr and IS/Network Mgr, but on the weekend I'm a Skydiving Videographer... basically I jump out of planes and video folks - lots of fun!!!! Not your typical LR owner, I know (long hair, goatee, skydiver, etc). :)

I'm over 15k now, but I don't know when I'll have free time to make it in yet. That would be cool if you had a sticker, and I'd love to put it on my Disco.

'Blue Skies' is just how us skydiver's say 'Take Care, have a great day, etc.'

Blue Skies!

LOL, Gil.

I'm only part time at LR, so I don't think I will be going to CA anytime soon. As for Dinga, you will have to ask her. I don't think they plan on sending her either, however. She is the office manager. She should be on the sales staff because she is THAT good. She knows her stuff when it comes to these vehicles.

We have been offroading as recently as March at a place called The Homestead. Last year they were at the Greenbriar. Both have very good trails, though I understand the Greenbriar's was more challenging.
I drove the Freelander and was amazed at how much it could do.
Our dealership is small, and we have two full time sales guys, but we do good business. :O

so you dig the Freelander? the one that was with us from LRNA this past weekend did not fair so well in the sand. i guess that is just not their element!! :)
so ya'll actually own LR's? just wondering.

Sorry you couldnt go to Cali, I guess I wont get into what a great time it was then :).. Ask garrett about the freelander. That is one vehicle that is only as good as the driver behind the wheel. We managed to get 16 of those lil rigs thru the ultra fine desert sand outside of Vegas with out burying them, but if you look at gps "beach" pics.. youll see that its no difficult task to get a freelander stuck. The 03 Range is another story, with the torsen in there that thing is impressive.. oh and Shelby.. thats a deep quote.. :)

Guess my last response didn't go through? Strange. Anyhoo, I got that quote off of a bookmark when I was in gradeschool, and it has stuck with me ever since.
I know the Freelander isn't as capable of handling the terrain as the Disco and Range, or Defender, but on the trails we drove it handled its own. I guess I prefer the Freelander because its like driving a car, as oppose to a big SUV. Well, big to me because I'm only 5'1. :O

I used to have a spot where, when I was a STUPID 16-year-old, I'd hit it just right, I could get the ol' Firebird to get all four wheels off the ground. IF you weren't going fast enough, you'd not get airborne, of course, but if you were going to fast, you'd bottom out when you landed....

I haven't tried it w' the Roo, and no, I don't intend to do so. Actually, I'm very confident that I *could* get all the wheels up that high, I'm just confident that, stock, it wouldn't be drivable to work the next day, lol.....

Don't feel bad Shelby, I liked driving it. It's got some pep. A little too much plastic but a lot of the same comforts as the disco. I just wouldn't take it off road even with a 2" lift. If I didn't like my car so much I would trade mine for a Freelander

well gil you know if you would stop yapping and start driving you could be here by midnight. i mean do i have to be more clear boy?

damn gp.. I was getting worried.. ya know, my day off is tommorrow.. and if I leave now.. hmmmmmm

you have to hear this accent man.. there seems to be something very sweet and innocent about a girl with a southern drawl..

I hear that those white letters add a minimum of 16 hp, so yes boy, Im sure you are fast. man, discoweb hasnt been this much fun since I first "discovery"ed it. (pun intended)

and garrett.. dont try to pretend that you didnt have my size 12s in your mouth last weekend :)

actually andy i just think that she called gil justin by accident. something like that. i think she was just flustered by the moment. god knows what she would have done if i called. lol.
not sure about this road trip. i just may have to go solo if cupcake doesn't hurry up before these gals dads come up here and hunt me down with a shotgun. haha.
but i will be waiting for gils call to be my wingman on this 'off road trip'. speaking of that do you have any decent trails in the area we (I) can hit when we (I) come down?
size 12's....you are a little man. hell i am wearing 14's right now. yuck.

Ya'll crack me up. I have no boyfriend. Justin and I have known each other for years, but no way would we date each other. As for trails, I think Mandy could fill you in on that, or perhaps our Parts Manager, Drew. He is way into this stuff.
I will get Mandy to ask him, and then he or she can let you guys know. The mountains here are beautiful, and I'm sure we have some scenic and/or challenging trails for you offroading junkies. :O

Just to let you know, Andy, I am not poking Shelby, though the thought crossed my mind a few times. She's a sexy little thing. I think that Gil should make a trip down here. I only called because Shelby was too much of a chicken to do so. She said he had a really nice voice but he is way too young. Too bad. But keep trying those lines. Maybe they will work one day. I think she is getting soft. You can see it in her eyes whenever you mention your name.

Dern...I left work and three hours later I check this thing and all heckfire has broken loose. I dunno about any trails here in VA to check out. Shelby thinks that I'm some sort of off-road queen or some such thing because of Drew...(the king of mud)...I'm just the co-pilot. As for Justin and Shelb showing uglies...nah...they bicker like an old married couple. And as far as pictures of the Shelbster go...she is on the web...on our website www.landroverrichmond.com under "got mud"...under the fourth muddy tire (3/10/02...I think that's the date)...she's in there somewhere...catch her if you can.

And age...come on Shelb...age means nothin'. Shelby has a heart of gold, she works her ars off, is smart, funny and patient...anyone wanna know anything else about her? Let's say this...we're a small group at LRR, only 15 of us...and only two females...she and I...she is most certainly the sweetheart of the group.

I probably won't be able to post a picture of myself on here, however. The one on our website isn't that good, as there is very little detail, but c'est la vie. Sorry. Due to professional image constraints, we cannot use this site as our personal hook up place. LOL. We have a picture or two on our website, www.landroverrichmond.com, but they aren't great. Mine has no real detail (I'm wearing a rust colored sweater and tan pants). Dinga has some good ones of her working her tail off during our March event (where the pictures were taken). We are not 6'0 models with legs up to whatever, if that is what you are wondering. We are, however, very down to earth and considered very attractive. And yes, we do get hit on, though some would have us think its due to bored, lonely, "depraved" married men.
