Has anybody dealt with this "company" or individual? I initiated a transaction with him at the end of July, had some correspondence with him as recently as August 15th, but that was the last I've heard and haven't seen the part I sent money for yet either. He has advertised some Rovers that he is parting out in the classifed section and seemed pretty straight to deal with. At this point all of his e-mails get kicked back as undeliverable and the phone number he posted does not accept incoming calls. I'm an optomist (foolish, perhaps) so I'm trying not to jump to any rash conclusions. I'm hoping that someone can provide me with info so that I can maintain that positive outlook before assuming fraud and contacting the Texas BBB and authorities to file a claim. It's not a large sum of money (not that foolish), but the principle.

Thanks,
Devin

David,
I don't know much about their actual products, but I do know this guy is a major asshole. Cavazos and his boss (or is it the other way around) own Lonewolf Rover or something like that out of Dallas, Tx. Guy flipped out one day when I questioned him selling a set of really used DII wheels and tires for 1600 dollars. He was like "find 'em cheaper". That night I found a set with less miles and in better shape on ebay for $225, what an idiot. Anyhoo, I would send him an email and if no response, call the better business bureau and complain. Not to mention getting the word out here and at other places frequented by loyal Rover fans. I hope your stuff comes, but I wouldn't put it past this group to screw people over.
-Luke
P.s. I know another guy on the board (Rob Davidson) has had pricing confrontations/email exchanges with him as well

Thanks for the info, Luke, although that's not what I wanted to hear. Anybody else?

Devin,

I've emailed him about a part - he gave me a quote for a used part that was about the same as brand-new HD stuff from GBR. I mentioned it to him, and he dropped his price very close to the real market value of this part; however, he would only deal in cash or by money order. Since the place's pretty far away from me, I'd look elsewhere.

Basically...his outfit is very shady guy. Peter, did he flip out when you questioned his pricing?

Yes...
I hope he is reading this board and is pissed right now. I told him he shouldn't treat people who were potential customers the way he has and he laughed. Now the joke is on him! Devin, just call the BBB and complain, then let those asses know what you have done and give them a chance to save some face.

I filed a complaint against him with the Texas BBB yesterday. I've also received private e-mail from another individual that got burned and has filed a complaint of fraud with his host ISP. Hopefully those things will have some impact, but chances are he'll sneak through the system without resolving anything. At least we know better now. I must say that at this point I echo Rob's opinion!

Good luck with the BBB and keep us all posted. FWIF, Have you tried calling the business at all? Not to mention he is located in Dallas, and I know we have a bunch of Dwebbers from the Metroplex so does anyone want to "stop in" on our old friend David? Couldn't hurt to check up on 'em.

Devin, did you mail money to him? or paypal? or Credit Card? There are options to follow for each that will work in your favor. In particular the post office will hammer him hard for "through the mail fraud", and paypal/credit cards can go after getting your money back and eventually will cause him to lose his account with them. All things that will harm his business.

Luke,

I've tried a couple of different numbers and e-mail addresses and have come up empty. The address he lists on the website is 633 Johnson Drive, Coppell, TX, 75019. That must be accurate because that's where I mailed the money and he confirmed that he received it. My company has a sales rep in the area and I considered asking him to check it out. If anyone knows that area and it's not out of their way, I would be interested in knowing at least if it's even a business.

Rans,
I thought that mail fraud was a possibility because I did "mail" the payment. My guess is that like the BBB, they go for the biggest fish, so my claim will not likely be investigated. I'll submit one anyway, in case anyone else has.

I also posted on the Texas Rovers bb.

Devin,
Just moved from Dallas a few months ago, makes me wished I had delayed my move a little. Also, post this on Pirate4x4.com, those guys some to be a tad bit more hostile regarding guys being ripped off by fellow 4x4'ers. Its worth it just for the exposure as well. Once again, good luck.

FYI, I got an e-mail from David Cavazos and later spoke with him on the phone. The message was to this effect:

"We apologized for any delays related to your order. Last months' virus attract wiped out all my computers along with history, orders etc etc (including Quicken; my book records). During so, my DSL service provider was changed along with it was the ability to received forwarded emails from onlinerover.com
I need to know what item or part you order and what you paid and how to refund you.
I apologies for the problem and reassure you your return."

The key will be follow through, but I thought it only fair to mention that at this point he's attempting to rectify our situtation.

Devin

Devin,
Keep us posted! I wonder what happened to the other people who are still waiting on parts. You think he contacted them all, or just kept the cash? Good job in being diligent Devin and good luck in the future.

While it's likely that the little interest that this thread generated has died, I thought it only fair to let everyone know that I did receive a part yesterday afternoon from online rover. While there was a discrepancy with the item, I'll chalk that up to simple miscommunication and work that out with Cavazos.

In any case, I have rec'd the part and felt that deserved reporting.

Devin,
I don't think there was a lack of interest, just only a handful of interested people who dealt with the guy. I am glad you finally received your part, though I am not surprised that it's not what you wanted. Don't let him get away with crap like that...
