has anyone used the 0w-30 amosil series 2000 synthetic? I am getting ready to go out of down on an impromtu trip for work and i needed to top my engin off. the only local retailer of amsoil only had 0W-30. I have Amsoil 10w-40 in my disco now and wanted to top it off with a like minded oil. What do you guys think should i add the 0w-30 into it or not? thanks in advance |

i've used it in my truck, but make sure you don't just top it off. synthetics should never be mixed with dino oil, and amsoil highly suggests that their oil not be mixed with other brands. marc |

Jason, if you are using the Amsoil Series 2000 0w30 just to top off, you will be fine, especially when you currently have Amsoil 10w40 in it right now. However, I don't think I could recommend doing an entire oil change with 0w30 as it's just so thin. I personally use Amsoil 10w40 myself. As far as mixing a synthetic with a conventional oil, there really shouldn't be any problem with that, except you are losing the advantages of using a full synthetic by mixing it. Amsoil 0w30 and 10w40 are both fully synthetic being formulated using a PAO basestock, so there are no issues with mixing those at all. |
