Anyone ever clean or detail underneath?

I'm concerned about rubbing or scrubbing of the waxoyl/coating but I'd like to do perform a good cleaning that would help to show off my leaks if any. Mine being a 96 had the black coating (I don't belive that's Waxoil) flaking off already. So I just had asphalt undercoating applied and rust protection shot inside the frame and body cavities. It get's most of the mud off, and I'm sure it helps with salt.
