Yea, it is really close but DOESN'T rub at all....just misses it actually, under full compression...I'm probably gonna cut a little more, front and back, because I wanna put some flares on it, not too much cutting though...
Also, unfortunately I wont be attending MAR since I'm at school in Hartford CT and it is just to far for me to travel right now...

Ben,

Which Bilstein shocks did you use and where did you put the 38" spare?

The bilstein's are the standard 12"ers, but with the shock relocators, I got back all the travel I lost with the spacers in the front...in the rear, I still have to install the lowered upper shock mounts from Scorpion Racing...
The spare is in my shed right now until I decide on whether I want to put it on the floor in the cargo area, or build a spare tire holder for the Surco rack....
And the pictures are in the photo gallery under Range Rover owners, under my name...

I wonder what the original owner of your car would think if they saw it right now.

Do not go off road or spin your wheels unless you have some spare axle shafts(especially rear).

I like the color of your truck. It looks like a machine color which goes well with the present theme of the vehicle. My RR has a solid grey (with some brown mixed in) non-metalic paint that was only applied to a handful of 92's. So mine is battleship grey, not silver. I also have 3 sets of wheels which match the color and some very impressive tires like yours. Except that on mine the tire size are all 245/75-16.

I've got to learn how to post pictures too.

Yea, no offroading until I get everything upgraded this summer......Although I do have a few spare axels/shafts/cv's lying around...but I think I can control myself...
Right now, my next upgrade will be new gearing, although I'm not sure whether to go with 4:10, or 4:75 or what. Curently, the truck gets up to 60-65mph on the highway, but not as easily as I would like. Since this is my daily driver, I think I'm gonna go with the 4:10's, but if anyone has an opinion/reasons why I should do otherwise, I'd be glad to hear it.
I have a few ques regarding changing gearing and upgrading axels, but I'll start that in a new post.....
Thanks for the comments.....keep em' commin...

Ben,

With 38s, when your speedo reads 55, your doing 72; be careful.

You'll need minimum 4.75:1 r&p just to get back to stock.

I'm no Dionne Warwick (thanks JL) but I see breakage coming your way :-)

Well, like I said, I'm not gonna be offroading the truck till everything is upgraded, so I don't see any breakage happening from on pavement driving...
I'm looking at going to ECR to do the upgrades this upcoming summer(still a long way off), so I'm sure they'll steer me in the right drection in terms of axels, cv's and re-gearing...

I could understand someone doing something like this if rock crawling was their life, but with your daily driver?

I just don't understand the desire to turn a nice RRC into big foot. Especially being that you're going to be driving this thing on the highway at high speeds.

I think that this car LOOKS better like this, then it did with the little tires on it...
I like it when people come up to me and say" now that's the way a Range Rover is supposed to look"
And in the northeast, I plan on taking it into the snow, and the MUD, especially the MUD!!!once everything is upgraded, so this car will have a ton of GO, to go along with the nice bit of SHOW!!!

Had you spent that money on lockers and good normal sized off-road tires, it would have been more capable off-road than it is now, and you wouldn't have sacrificed on-road performance (after all, it is your daily driver), handling, gas mileage, etc. And you wouldn't have had to spend even more money upgrading components to compensate for the monster truck tires.

Funny how they didn't need HUGE tires on any of the Camel Trophy events.

By your last post, it's pretty obvious that showing this thing off is one of your primary motives. There are plenty of Chevy's around here with similar sized tires. 9 times out of 10, they're just cruising for chicks and hogging the highway, and doing very little, if any, serious off-roading.

And I do agree, that's the way a Range Rover is supposed to look... if you're planning to do serious rock crawling, or perhaps considering car crushing with big foot. ;)

For daily use on the highway, it's just ridiculous.

Yea, showing it off is a primary concern!!! I mean who doesn't want their car to look good???
I'll admit, it draws a lot of attention, and it stands out from the crowd because of how it looks...it looks DIFFERENT...that was the whole point of buying my Range Rover in the first place, to have something different...
I agree, I could have upgraded everything first, then gone for the more "show look" after, but I also had to purchase the parts that were the best buy for me at the time, and the tires/wheels were a GREAT buy, (if I told you how much, you would agree!!!).
So, I'll wait till next summer to take the rover offroading again...and for now, I'll drive it the 10-15 miles back and forth to college/track practice each day, and enjoy how it looks.
Thanks for all the opinion/comments....keep em' coming...

To not get any rubbing at full stuff, I assume you lengthened your bump stops. How much?

Also, if you are looking for flares. I would recomend the generic flares from Jc Whitney. They come in a roll of 25'. Guy here in KC threw 35"s on, chopped up, added those and it looked wonderful.

No, the bump stops are stock, but I have a 2" body lift, and 4-5" of spring/spacer lift so there's plenty of room in the wheel wells...

I took a look at those flares, they're nice, but I saw a set of flares from Wild Horses that are super flexy and REALLY nice...

Rob,

Like I said, NO OFFROADING!!!!And I will stick by my word, until everything is upgraded...
I know I'm doing it all backwards, but it is the most cost effective way for me, in terms of buying parts that I wanted that were offered at an irresistable price...
And I love how it looks right now, by next summer, it will offroad as good as it looks!!!

that thing is a time bomb.

Well,I still have a complete spare front end with axels/cv's and everything else, so if I do happen to break anything,I'll be able to fix it...
Hopefully I'll be ok though since the driving I'm doing is very easy on the Rover, and won't be getting ANY harder...
Appreciate the concern though...

There's a difference between showing off, and looking good. Things that look good have no need to show off.

Personally, I see it as a win win situation for Dweb. Whether Ben's begging for stock axles or selling off his stock parts (albeit fucked), it's still 5% right?

Dont listen to them Ben!! It looks bitchin!! - stick with the rest of the upgrades before you go off road seriously then who gives a shit what you break!!??

Theres and old saying that goes: If you're not breaking anything (making mistakes), you're not trying hard enough.

Im with you 100% there - plus, if you don't feel personally like Kid Rock in your truck what's the point to any of this?

You guys with that "purist" LR bullshit make me laugh - look at your rigs, tell me they are pure genuine stuff, then make those comments again.

As far as dialy driving goes, as long as it's not a trailer queen, who can throw the first stones?

I think Rob is right - get those 38s in the rocks and rock and roll man!!

If I hear another reference to Camel Trophy, I'm going to puke!!! Of course they didn't need bigger tires because THEY WINCHED THROUGH EVERYTHING!! Hell I can winch my wifes VW Golf through any trail if I didn't care about damage... Which they didn't.
