Hi everyone,

some time ago, there was a lot of talking about CB lift (read Cheap Bastard) on DI, that was putting stock rear springs in the front and buying a set of taller springs for the rear.

Did some of you made it and what was the feeling on the long run ?

pros and cons ?

How much lift did it provide ?

I am just gathering some info for a friend of mine. Here it is quite difficult to get parts !
I am running an OME lift myself and very happy :-)

Looking forward for some feedback.

Thank you all.

Erik.

I personally do not recommend CB type lifts or other parts for that matter. Do it once, do it right.

"Here it is quite difficult to get parts !"

Damn Man, you are in the middle of nowhere. Since you are located almost directly between Australia and Fiji, you are closer to Austrailia than EU; so why not order the correct OME stuff from ARB in Austrailia. Have you tried air freight via AIRFRANCE or Aircalin? There are numerous flights in and out daily.

That's what I would do.......:-)

Conceptually this is a cool idea. The OME MD front springs have a 50% higher spring rate than stock, HD are ~80% higher than stock. If you don't have a bumper and winch hanging off the front, either one is very stiff. I don't care for the front MD's at all on my mostly-stock DI (the rears feel perfect though).

OME MD rears are only 20% higher than stock rear rate and 15% less rate than OME MD front springs.

People frown on it, but those rears have a good rate for the front. I've read differing accounts of resulting lift, which is a concern.

Hmmmmm......... :-)

Hi Everyone,

thank you all for your opinion.

I was just investigating this concept I have heard in the past.

Paul, your are right, but freight is nearly as expensive from europe than from OZ !! strange :-(
and we then get 39% of custom taxes on the total cost and FREIGHT price. Terrible !
there is often more freight + taxes than the initial cost of the goods... ask me how I know !

Best regards.

Erik.
