I spent a few months mentally flow-charting my electrical system to set it up in the best way to meet my needs. One of my priorities was having the ability to run equipment without rover running, especially for emergency situations. I decided what I wanted, found the necessary electrical supplies, and techs are doing a better job than I could have ever expected. Honestly, I was afraid to see what I had requested -- fearing that the inside of my rover was going to look like a video game.

I wanted 6 areas of my rover isolated and hardwired so they could be used without rover on. Obviously, adding a dual battery in this situation would be necessary (especially if you can be forgetful like me about turning things off).

Taking my forgetfulness into consideration, I knew I needed to find a way to compensate for that possibility -- I did not want to have to check each area or piece of equipment to make sure everything was turned off. I needed to find an easy way to just shut everything off at the source. I decided that an inexpensive marine panel would do the job and found one with 6 switches.

As I requested, techs have hardwired and isolated:
1) Front Aux Lights
2) Front Aux Plugs
3) CB Radio
4) Rear Aux Plugs
5) Rear Worklamp - side 1
6) Rear Worklamp - side 2

I am happy to report that what I requested that they install does not look totally ridiculous, in fact it is pretty much out of the line of sight (which is fine for my use). I will have little name plates made to correctly identify the switch (it came with standard marine labels).

I can't tell you how much I worried over this, and how stupid it would look -- but knew it was necessary for me. It doesn't look that bad does it??

Doesn't look bad at all IMHO, of course if the switches light up, then you may not forget as easily to shut them off.

It looks fine. Helps make the truck look like it might have to work for a living.

One thought (can't help it, I'm an engineer), if you find you keep bumping it, or don't like the way it looks, the fold-down panel is thick enough to bury the switch plate. You could cut the plastic, mount the plate from the back side, and put on a cover. Probably a LOT more work than worthwhile.
