The Dual Battery Tray fabricated by Mike at www.aedofab.com arrrived recently. I saw it for the first time today. I am VERY impressed by his work and the clean lines of tray. It will drop into the exact same spot where stock battery and bottle jack are located. Mike also made the cables using high quality marine parts. It should be put into my rover this week. I took the tray and parts out of the box and set them on the hanger floor to take pics.

Jamie,

I appreciate your informative pics.

Not much room under the hood of a D2. I am considering Mike's dual battery tray as a way to hard mount my Extreme Air compressor next to the single Optima.

I would be interested in some LxWxH measurements once you get the tray installed.

Thanks,
-Barry

Barry,

It is interesting that you mentioned that. When Mike made my tray, he also made one for someone else that was going to use it for that same purpose. From what I understand, whoever is doing that lives somewhere in my area, but I don't know who it is. Perhaps Mike can give you more info if you contact him - maybe you could even get pics of that set up.

BTW, what is an Extreme Air Compressor?

Thanks, Jamie

Jamie,

Ok, the correctly spelled "ExtremeAire" is a 100% duty cycle compressor.

Jamie,

Can you post plenty of pictures once you've had the battery tray installed.

Barry,

Here are measurements taken facing the front of truck toward batteries:
10" Deep
14" Width of the silver bar that runs on top of batteries
Base of tray to top of battery 7" (the cables sit higher)

If you need any more measurements, just let me know. Thanks, Jamie

Barry,
I found out what company will be installing the air compressor in the tray (as you are considering). Still don't know who owns the D2, but the co that is installing it will be calling me back when they get it finished today. They are not too far north of me, so I am going to try to get up there to see it.

I'll take my camera in hopes of getting some pics for you. If there is any particual view you would like, let me know. Thanks, Jamie

P.S. I am also hoping to see this air compressor do bunjee jump and drink mnt dew :-)

Jamie,

Thanks for the measurements! There may be just enough room to mount my compressor in place of battery next to the radiator.

Is there a future plan for a cover? The design and manufacture looks very nice. What about environmental issues from off roading?

Paul
