The actual retail sticker is 55k on them. They are good vehicles, and all the work done on them was done right. If I had the money, I would get one. They are great to drive with the CDL.

Very nice...

But at 55k a pop, it would be last vehicle on my wish list. You could get 2 decked out 2000 D2's for that price!

I understand what you are saying, but the work they had done on them wasn't cheap. The cost isn't to much higher than what Land Rover put into them.

Will,

Yes they're nice trucks and I wouldn't turn one down if offered, but I promise you there isn't $20K plus worth of accessories/work done to them.

In a nutshell it's just a production DII painted orange, with a rack, a winch, some tires, etc... There's MAYBE $5-6K worth of toys on 'em. And they're used trucks too...

Thanks,
Nathan Hindman

Not that I would spend that kind of money on a `03 all at one time but think about the money we have put into our trucks then include the original purchase price. We have all spent a good amount of money. Do take note that they are factory equipped with CDL & traction control so it is a very rare truck until they release the mid `04 D3.

Anybody ever think about the graphics package? That cost out the arse. Plus all the other mods. And as far as the used part, well yes, to some degree. They were well taken care of during the event. After every trial each vehicle was basically brought back to new. The vehicles are '03's with most every '04 update. They don't have that drive away locking mess. I am not saying that it is a killer deal, but it's not that bad of a buy. Plus since it was used in the event it will bring more money than a comprabley equiped vehicle.

Someone out there with urge to buy a "novelty vehicle" will not care about the price or probably even the options but just the fact that it was in the "trek" competition. I mean come on, this thing probably won't get bought buy a board member, or even an avid offroader, and the vehicle's potential (or lack there of in some peoples view) will probably never be explored. And so, 50K seems down right reasonable, don't ya' think?

They have one of these at the Dealership here in Louisville. Has all the goodies including a matching canoe (which I assume was part of the competition). I looked at the sticker and they were asking around 61K for it.The vehicle is nice but I noticed one strange thing...normally the rack lights are wired down the drivers side of the front windshield, but on this vehicle someone just drilled a hole in the roof just behind the lights, fished the wire straight down and put alot of black caulk around it. Seems like a kind of cheap way to wire those on such an expensive vehicle.

I spoke with one of the guys in service who said that each dealership is given the option to buy the vehicle their team competed with, so it makes me wonder what happens to the ones that don't get bought by the dealership, anyone know?

The canoe wasn't part of the competition. They used Kayaks. The wiring for the lights was done by The Land Rover Special Vehicles Department. I think they have a pretty good idea what they are doing, and the wiring looks pretty professional to me. They TReK Discoveries that don't get bought by the dealerships go to auction. But generally they are bought by the dealerships, so I doubt there will be many, if any, that go to auction.

They just got an '04 Discovery G4 edition in at the Knoxville dealership. My face just lit up when I looked in and saw the CDL sitting there.

what do they want for the G4? Did you discuss with anyone from the dealership their feelings on the CDL with ETC? I am hunting around for a CDL lever to retrofit into my DII, was curious what LR was "officially" saying about the setup.
