The front power seat in my 97 Disco moves in every direction except backwards. I popped the seat control off of the center console and everything is connected, and there doesnt appear to be anything under my seat thats jamming/preventing it from moving backwards. Any ideas? |

Sometimes a build up of the lubricant they use for the metal parts under seat causes it to jam like that. Anyway that is what the dealer told me. However, the same thing happened to mine and had to replace the motor. Still under warranty so it did not cost me anything. |

the passenger side seat in my '97 stopped working completely. for a while it would move in every direction but back, but now it doesn't move at all. think it could be as simple as the switch for mine? |

It's most likely dirty contacts inside the switch. Remove switch, slowly and carefully take appart (bearing balls and springs inside), clean and assemble and it should work. |

It is definitely not the motor...if it will move in one direction, it will move in all. You are going to have to rebuild the switch. It is not difficult, but it is time consuming & you have to be very careful bc if you lose one of those tiny springs/ball bearings you are SOL. I have rebuilt about 6 switches....what do you think guys should I start a service rebuilding them?? I bought a bottle of the size ball bearings. If you call your dealer you will fall off your chair when they tell you the price of a new switch. JB |

rebuilding the switch is probably do-able for me but getting the damn thing out of the side of hte cubby might be beyond my talent. If it's anything like the switches or clock on the dash it's a real pain to remove them without braking something |
