Can I just swap out front springs for rear springs on a 03? I can get a set of rear springs from a wrecker and I want to put them on the front end of the truck, so I will basicaly have rear springs all around. What do you think? And will I need different shocks also? FYI I have a RTE slimline with A-bar on the front right now, and will put 265 70R16's on later. Ross Thoma |

Hi neil I was under the impression that the CB was putting OME in the rear and pushing the orig rear to the front, thus only buying 1 set of springs. But hey I may be wrong? And can I still use orig front shocks? And will my front end look whacky. RT |

Hey Ross, I think your right ;OME in the rear and orig rear in the front, have you considered that set up?If not what are the pros and cons? As you can tell I'm intrested in an inexpensive lift as well. In regards to your original question I'll have to defer to the more experinced guys who frequent the board...anybody?? Neil |

Neil In the future I will eventually put OME 2" all around but In the morning I will be picking up a rear spring for my ford ranger and he has a set of disco rear springs for me if I want them. So I figure what the hell. RT |

Ross, Changing the springs is not too hard, but it does take a little time to do. A full set of new springs is $240. Less than half what your bumper cost. I would just wait and do the job right. You do not necessarily need to do shocks now, but the procedure for changing out the front shocks is no different than changing out springs. If budget is a concern, you may want to do all new springs and just the front shocks. Cost would be about $390 as opposed to $540 with all new shocks and springs. The rear shock install is a simple bolt-in procedure, and can be done quickly at any time. I can understand the allure of getting free stuff, but you might just be spinning your wheels. At the very least, your rear will be unbalanced as opposed to the front unless you get the proper rear springs. Just a thought, Curtis |

Ross, also keep in mind your ride will be pretty harsh with those rear springs up front. I did this on my 99 D2 a couple years ago and it was beating me to death. I put the stock springs back in a few weeks after that and just waited till I had the money to do it right. FWIW the rear springs up front on mine gave about 3" of lift. Aaron |
