I was washing my Disco yesterday and noticed the begining of some of the dreaded "Alpine Window Rust" Is there any thing I can to to stop its advancement. Has anyone taken the window out and fixed it themselves?

That will teach you to go washing it!

Seriously, though, The dealer will fix it for free. It is under a warranty. I had my 97 done last year.

How bad was your rust mine isn't that bad, it looks like it is just starting to surface. What is the rust warranty again. 6 year unlimited?

Is the warranty transferrable to second owners?

Yes. Transferrable.
Not sure how long. I think 10 years, but that sounds too long.

Anyone know for certain how long the corrosion warranty is? My brother has a '97 Disco with 62K that has some pretty serious rust around the roof gutters.

As per the lexus site (warranty comparison) Land Rovers have a 6 year unlimited mile Rust warranty.

http://www.lexus.com/models/warranty_vehicle_protection/warranty_comparison.html

and this is from the Land Rover site.

Land Rover offers the following warranty coverages:
New Vehicle:
Bumper-to-bumper limited warranty: 4 years/50,000 miles
Battery: 4 years/50,000 miles
Corrosion: 6 years/unlimited mileage
Wear parts and service adjustments: Not covered by warranty

Parts Warranty: 1 year/unlimited mileage on all repairs performed or parts installed at an authorized Land Rover Retailer. See your Retailer for details.

Certified Pre-Owned Warranty:
All Land Rover Certified Pre-Owned vehicles are covered by a comprehensive 12-month/12,000-mile limited warranty. Additionally, Certified Pre-Owned Land Rovers come with 24-hour Land Rover Road RecoverySM service.

Certified Pre-Owned vehicles are also eligible for Land Rover Assured service plan purchases.

I would call a dealer just to make sure on the date of original purchase though, because that is when the 6 years starts.

it's 6 years, FWIW. And try to get it done!

In any case, it took me about 3 hours to pull the windows, strip the rust, fill the holes, sand it down, prime, paint, and reinstall the windows.
annoying, but piece of cake as far as jobs go.

I bought new, but could have reused old ones. They weren't even 6 years old - after 2 years, LR farmed out the very same job to a premium body shop here in San Diego - which didn't bother with as much as fogging a drop of primer on the bare metal!

My old gaskets are sitting in the box - let me know if anyone's hurting for them. Took me forever and a half to get a set from Nathan.

So the water is getting in from the outer seal or its just damp under there anyway? I'm just wondering if it would be pertinent to silicone the seal carefully on the outside before it gets a chance to start?
