Got rearended this morning while stopped in traffic.

Nissan Sentra is no more.. hood folded in half, front end smashed, fenders buckled, radiator pushed back aout a foot and a half into the engine compartment, airbag deployed, amazingly, both headlights still worked. Luckily, no injury to the girl driving.

My damage...bent bumper, broken light in bumper, slight bend in rear quarter panel,,oh yeah, and I spilled some coffee.

Damn, these are tough trucks!

So, I have the opportunity to get a new rear bumper. Any suggestions for an aftermarket replacement that is close to the price of a Land Rover bumper for a 97 D1?

Replaced mine myself about 3 months ago. (fire hydrants are tougher than Discos - knocked it off its pedestal but otherwise no damage - luckily it wasn't active). I paid $249 for OEM Land Rover replacement plus like $30 for an end cap bracket.
THe light in the bumper is around $30 or less I think. Try www.dap-inc.com - very reasonable prices.

Jaime,

I had the similar thing happen to me Though it was my girlfriend rear ending a car with my 98 Disco. And I was able to get my ARB bull bar with winch mount that way. Take your disco to a dealer for the insurance repair quote (prices are so much higher) and you will find yourself in the price range of a nice new after market bumper and your insurance company wont bitch about getting you an aftermarket bumper for your disco to save cash. I myself am going to go with the D1 bumper made by Aedofab. I like the looks of it and every thing I have read on it says its made very well and at $850 base price isnt bad eather. Cheers Chris

Jaime,

The last AB catalog I received has the D1 bumper at $240 and end caps at $27/each. (If you have the chrome rear bumper, it's a different story at $650.)

That being said, I think all the aftermarket bumpers are much more. I know the RTE, Trek Outfitters, and SG ones are almost $1,000. Expedition Exchange also sells a TJM rear bumper for the D1. I remember liking that bumper and wishing there were more options for the D2.

Some good suggestions... even the beer!!

Thanks for the advice. I'll look into it.

I have an appointment for the estimate next Tuesday, so I'll have an idea of how much I have to play with.

The new bumper in Atlantic British (part # 9513) is the best looking bumper i've seen for the DI. It costs $799.95 but that is badass! I wish someone would hit me in the ass end so i can get one. I guess i can just slam on the brakes on the interstate or something though. It's a nice bumper though, i'd definately look into it.
