I've been running 235/85's for sometime now and noticed it takes more to stop nowadays. The break pedal feels firm to a point, but after that I can feel a slight pop in the pedal. Was told all is OK and the pop is just a piston working. I've tried a few controlled panic stops from 30mph in empty lots and can't get the wheels to lock, no ABS kick in either. So, how much stopping power did I lose going to taller tires or do I have something wrong with my breaks. Thanks in advance. Brian |

pads glazed? Air in the brake lines? brake pistons need rebuilding? Disco's never had great brakes, but you should be able to get the abs to kick with enough pedal pressure. |

Funny. I've had just the opposite effect. Granted I still have stock tires. But I have actually been able to override my ABS on dry pavement and lock up the wheels. I thought my ABS was faulty. We think that I hit the brakes with such lightning speed in a panic that the brakes stopped all the wheels simaltaniously and the computer thought that I was already at a stand still. |
